The Light of Life Preschool is an oasis in the midst of what is one of India’s largest Red Light Districts with over 5,000 sex workers.

Serving as a pre-primary day shelter, the smallest children of prostitutes, between ages 3 – 5 years old, are able to come to Light of Life where the loving staff trains them in life skills, hygiene, education basics, and so much more, in a safe environment. Without this preschool, these small children would be forced to wander the dangerous streets of the city alone and unsupervised while their mothers sleep after a night of soliciting ‘clients’.

The pre-school operates 5 days a week, Monday – Friday. Daily activities include arts & crafts times and a hot lunch, which may be the only hot meal that they receive that day.
