Mission
Light of Life Preschool is a safe haven for the children of prostitutes in Pune’s Red Light District, one of the largest in India. In an area marked by poverty, exploitation, and spiritual darkness, this preschool provides safety, education, and care for children who would otherwise be left to wander the streets while their mothers sleep after a night of soliciting clients.
Programs and Activities
- Pre-Primary Day Shelter: Serving children ages 3-5, offering a structured and nurturing environment to keep them off the streets.
- Early Childhood Education: Preparing children for formal schooling by teaching letters, numbers, life skills, and hygiene.
- Spiritual & Emotional Support: Providing Christian teachings, mentorship, and a foundation of love and security.
- Arts, Crafts, and Play: Encouraging creativity and joy through bubbles, balloons, and structured playtime, bringing moments of laughter and happiness to their lives.
- Nutritious Meals: Serving a hot lunch daily, often the only full meal these children receive.
- Loving Staff & Mentorship: A dedicated team provides stability, guidance, and care, helping children grow in a supportive environment.
Community Impact
Light of Life Preschool is an oasis of hope in one of India’s darkest areas, offering education and protection to children who would otherwise be at risk of neglect, trafficking, or exploitation. By equipping them with early education and life skills, the preschool is helping break the cycle of poverty and despair.
