Transforming Lives in Jinja
Mission Statement
SIITA Nest (Salvation Is In Truth Application) provides shelter, food, medical care, education, and spiritual support to children in Uganda who have been affected by civil war, AIDS, abandonment, and family breakdown.
A Family of Hope
Siita Nest Mother’s Love Home, located in Jinja, Uganda, is more than just a shelter—it’s a family. Founded by Alice Kisolo, a woman who embodied the compassion of Mother Teresa and the strength of Queen Latifah, Siita Nest cares for children in their home, they also help needy in the community. Alice’s journey began with personal tragedy, losing eight family members to AIDS in one year and taking in the 14 orphans left behind. What started as a response to a family crisis has grown into a lifeline for hundreds of children.
Transforming Lives Through Love and Education
The children thrive academically. Many are enrolled in Bible schools and vocational training. They are learning essential skills like air conditioner repair and music for church worship. Despite the challenges of rising costs for school fees and supplies, the children continue to excel, supported by the love and dedication of our staff.
The Power of Celebration
Ugandan culture is rich in dance and celebration, and at Siita Nest, these traditions play a crucial role in healing. The children, many from traumatic backgrounds, find freedom and joy through worship and dance, breaking the chains of their past.
Overcoming Challenges
From the beginning Streams of Mercy has been supporting SIITA Nest. Through our support they were able to build much needed buildings. The greatest challenges they always face are funding for education and the rising costs of food. With over 275 children under their care, the need is immense. They dream of acquiring land to grow their own food, which would significantly ease the financial burden.
Looking Ahead
This year, they’re intensifying their community outreach, visiting local families to offer support and counseling. The demand for help is overwhelming, but they remain committed to our mission. Siita Nest is a place where children find hope, healing, and a future, and your support is crucial in continuing this work.
