A Beacon of Hope

The House of Hope is a place of refuge for children living on the streets of Kolkata, India. It brings hope to the lowest caste in India. This is where families live on a blanket…. if they are fortunate enough. When children go to the House of Hope they receive food, education, medical care and love. Through education and support, it gives children a way to escape life on the streets. They also go to the streets to bring food, wound care and more.

Street Children Struggle for Education

The poorest children in India, especially those living on the streets, have no way to access education. The House of Hope provides resources for a day center so children can attend class.

I come to the House of Hope every day to shower and go to school. Life is hard living on the streets. I am all alone...

Can you see life the way I see it?

The House of Hope is always looking for creative ways to motivate and encourage children to tap into hidden talents and give them purpose for their lives. Two of the newest projects are a photography/videography competition and a Homes of Hope YouTube channel! The children can show us what their life looks like – from their own eyes and perspective!

For most of my life, I was looked down on because of my caste... love is what kept drawing me back to the House of Hope. I found shelter and love. I am now working on staff!

House of Hope testimonies:

“I come to the House of Hope every day to shower and go to school. Life is hard living on the streets. I am all alone. I praise God that I can go to the House of Hope to study and be cared for.” Akash, 12 years old.

Once A Street Child, Now Staff

My father passed away when I was very young. I grew up on the streets with my mother. At the House of Hope love was given freely without any discrimination. This mentality was so foreign. For most of my life, I was looked down on because of my caste. I yearned for the love I was given there. That love is what kept drawing me back. Gradually I realized they show love because of God’s love! I received an informal education at the House of Hope. I found shelter and love. I am now working on staff! I am eager to serve God in whatever way He leads. – Mondal, 19
